The Carrot that would be King

On Wednesdays there's a small Farmer's Market across the green, a 7 minute walk from here. I dashed over yesterday, to peruse, mostly, and ended up buying only carrots. These carrots, however, were foot-long ones. Example A:

Much longer that a banana, and very, very skinny. They're tasty enough, but strange. It was a sweet, sleepy little market. No music, though, and no green chile roasting...

I recieved my first package day before yesterday, and contained therein was the most beautiful thing: Grape jelly, straght from grandma's kitchen. Anita was kind enough to send me a jar. I immdiately opened it and enjoyed it--immensely.

So worry not-- even if our days of plenty are numbered (as was stencilled on the sidewalk), for the time there will be no shortage of carrots, nor of grapes.

It's a lovely sunny day today. It was pissing rain all day on Tuesday, and then cleared up very nicely yesterday. The clouds are high, the air is crisp and cool--it's early autumn indeed.
